JKU rear seat removal?

How hard is it, or, how long does it take? Anything I need to know? Apparently I could remove just the single seat, but not the other way around.

Not too hard....I haven't had mine completely out, but had all the bolts off to do my recline kit....6-8 bolts or so. They're pretty tight (factory lock-tight), but will come out. Probably a 15-20 minute job....

If you are in fact talking about the fold down rear seat in a JKU, then it has to be unbolted. There are about 10 bolts holding it in place. There are four on the movable braces on the front, then there are three underneath where the bottom of the seat back bolts to the floor pan where in drops down in front of the axle and then there are three more at the back bolting it to the flot pan at the start of the cargo area.

That being said, it would be a major PITA and a definite two person job and I am not sure what you would gain. The seat folds down to increase the cargo area. The only reason I know about all those bolts is that I installed the rear seat recline kit and I had to loosen three and remove 7. The seat is most definitely not designed for easy removal (like the one in the two door JK).

Synergy used to make a bracket for this, but they discontinued it. From what I can tell, the back, inside corner of the single seat bolts to the larger seat instead of the floor, so by removing the 60% portion of the back seat, there is nothing to bolt the 40% part to on that corner. If you, or any buddies, have some basic fabrication skills, it doesn't look to difficult to make something.

well that sounds like a pita, but it would gain some cargo/sleeping space.
