Just ordered new Sony XAV- AX100 headunit

Just ordered the new Sony head unit (beautifully named XAV-AX100) its got Android Auto and CarPlay. It does not have the integration the Pioneer and Kennwood units have but I can check my tire pressure by hand

Its $499 and has (IMO) the best looking UI and face plate. Faceplate is not removable but it look almost stock and for $499, why not. It just came out so I can't find any reviews. So I guess I can add my own review here if anyone is interested.

The big question marks I'm worried about are boot up time and the install without much to go off of. I would have purchased on Cruchfield but it was sold out, amazon it is. If anyone has any advice or I made a mistake in what I purchased I'm open for suggestions.

Purchased the following:

Cruchfield Listed these for the install (except the dash kit), hope they work

PAC RP4-CH11 - this is instead of the more expensive and feature full idata link Maestro that most installs use for connection and controls
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Metra 40-EU10 - antenna connection, again listed by Cruchfield
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Best Kit BKCDK642 - saw this on this install, and really liked the flat look over the more curved and typical Metra unit
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Sony XAV-AX100 - and of course the unit
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And here is a video overview if anyone is interested

Got the Sony and all the parts needed for the install today. The buttons and construction of the Sony feels top notch, I have been told the startup time is 6-8 seconds. The unit comes with remote, external mic, and everything else you would expect from a aftermarket stereo.

I went ahead and pre soldered the PAC unit to the Sony. Everything seemed pretty straight forward in the connections, I will see when I pull the stock radio and plug it in.

One plus that I think this unit should have over every other double DIN unit is this; besides the faceplate, its really a single DIN in size See the video above to see what that means.

With it being smaller I shouldn't have to remove or modify the metal bracket that attaches to the factory unit. This will allow for the top 7mm bolt to stay in place and not mess with my mount or any/all that use it.

I should install on Friday. I will see what problems come up.
