JW Speaker 6145-J and 2013 JK

Hello, everyone!

I own a 2013 JKUR, and recently purchased the 8700-J Headlights and the 6145-J Fog Lamps from J.W. Speaker.

Hooked the headlights up quickly enough (Which are amazing by the way), and realized that installing the fog lamps would be easier if I took the time to remove my front bumper, so I decided to push it off until my next day off when I have some legit time (Sunday).

So after opening the box I saw that it wasn't plug and play like the 8700's, it required splicing. I suppose I didn't do much research on the fog lamps, because the 6145-J's seemed to go hand in hand with the 8700-J's which are plug and play... At least on my 2013.

So i'm doing a little more research, trying to search the internet and forums... They say the 6145-J's are plug and play for newer models (2014 and up), or require splicing (2012 and older). For some reason information is absent on the 2013, and it's making me think I bought the incorrect fog lamps.

So finally to my question... Does anyone have experience installing the 6145-J's on a 2013? I can't seem to find any information on my specific year model.

I know they make just the plain 6145, which I remember reading was having flicker issues, which required some extra purchases... But I'd rather find out what the deal is before I splice the fog lamps and find out I purchased the incorrect set, and can't return them.

Could someone help me please? Thank you for your help!

The JW Speaker website says that the 6145J fog lights are intended for 2014 and newer wranglers.

For 2013 and older wranglers the website says to use the 6145 fog lights. The website also says that the 6145 fog lights are only plug and play for 2007 to 2010 wranglers, so it looks like splicing or adapter harnesses (if you don't want to splice) are needed to make them work for your 2013.

I just installed the 6145J fog lights on my 2015 and used adapter harnesses from Rubitrux. I'm not sure what adapter harnesses you would need for your 2013 with the 6145 fog lights. Also, I found it easiest to just remove the plastic filler panel behind the front bumper and in front of the grille. That have me plenty of room and it only took me a few minutes to take the panel off.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Thank you! Looks like I'll be sending them back, then.

No problem.

Apparently 2014 and newer wranglers have a PWM signal to the fog lights which requires the 6145J fog lights with anti-flicker built in.

... So I tracked down the adapter necessary to use the 6145 on my 2013 in order to avoid splicing.

Both probably coming sometime next week. Will I need anything extra to avoid a flicker issue or should I be good?
