Keyless Entry - Dealer provided no keys

2015 Willy JKU came with only the basic key. Very weird since this Jeep was new off lease and I would assume that either the keys existed or the previous owner was charged for them and we should receive new ones.

In any case, is my only option to buy 2+ keys w/ remote on ebay and take them to a Jeep dealer to have them programmed?

Does anyone know about how much that should cost?

TIA
Matt

My Jeep only came with one keyfob key. Local locksmith made me a second keyfob key, cut and programmed, for 130. Much cheaper than dealer.

I would go back to the place of purchase and see if you can work out some type of deals for the remote keys. If the vehicle has keyless entry, there should have been 2 remote keys with it. You can probably find the keys on Ebay for a reasonable price, if need be. Programming them might cost a bit depending on where you go.

My Jeep was off a lease, only had one keyfob. I asked about getting another one because we all know cars USUALLY come with two. The dealer said sure, sure yeah we'll get you one. Yeah never got one. They said the lady probably never turned in the 2nd one or lost it. Since I signed the "Nothing promised nothing owed" at signing I didn't get the 2nd key! Hopefully your dealer is better than mine! I just ended up getting one off ebay and having the locksmith at work cut it for me. Programming only took about 10 minutes myself. There's places online to look for the instructions! Good luck!

You should get a second key and have the dealer set it up for you. I know of 2 folks who bought a used JK with only one key and had theirs stolen later. Both were found with the second key in the switch. Since it was in it, the insurance companies put up quite a fight on the stolen claims.

You sure it came with keyless entry? The first Jeep they had me test drive was just the basic key because it was the basic sport unlimited package. You can still get jeeps stripped down pretty far.

I guess the biggest question seeing as it is a willys. Does it have power door locks and power windows? Some do, some don't. I can only guess it does, because you asked the question. But, if it does not, then yes all you get is two standard sentry keys.

In 2016 there is two versions of the Willys, one with power windows and door locks and one without. I don't know if 2015 was the same way. Either way, you should get two keys. And if you did not then that means someone else has one of your keys. That may or may not be a problem, but that would be a concern for me. It is like buying a house and not getting all the keys, would you want other people to have a key to your house?

It was like that in 2015 also. I have the Willys without the door locks and added them after the fact. cost me about $800.
