Knocking in motor

If anyone can help please. I have a 2011 Jeep Wrangler bought in 2012, I have had about 10-12 oil changes and have looked after it pretty good. My jeep was running good then I shut it off went into a store for about 10 minutes came out started it and a knocking sound. Checked oil and it had oil and it wasn't BLACK but it was a darker brown. I had two guys listen to it on matcha nice said sounds like a lifter he checked oil said not bad and said I would go complain to dealer. Other guy said said same thing oil isn't bad I have seen a lot has 105000 Kms. The one machinists said I could drive it to dealer which was about 45 minutes away. I did not do that as I didn't want to make the problem worse so I put it in an I closed trailer and towed it to dealer. Dealer looked at it and said I need a new motor? I asked why NO LIGHT , INDICATER LIGHT ON DASH not came on and there is still nothing. Dealer matcha if said oil was black, had lot of oil pressure. So I said. What caused this, answer," internal problem, what I asked, well its internal. And because warranty is 5 years or 100000 Kms, they said they would contact Chrysler as they may do something, within 1/2 hour I called and the service adviser said no I had to pay it all.
I may not be to smart about vehicles but I don't think this is right
I have NEVER drove my jeep off road.
Does anyone have any idea. I can not afford a new motor, I saved enough to buy this jeep for cash, now this is what they have told me, brand. New Chrysler motor ,rebuilt, I asked is it brand new or rebuilt, no she said it is a brand new Chrysler . Rebuilt, it is a rebuilt. For $5400.00 plus $1600.00 labour and $300-500 for fluids, I asked what. Fluids cost that much she then said I guess it would be more like $100.00
Option 2 used motor $2500.00. Plus $1600.00 labour and the fluids.
So here i am stuck out in the country with no vehicle.
The reason they told me Chrysler would do nothing is because I don't have receipts of my oil changes. Where we live the closest deal is about 2 1/2 hours away so I take it to our local little service station that give just little til receipt not good enough it has to be a bill that says name of station date, and it has to be number. Sorry that can't happen.
Ok enough anyone have. Any idea. That will help a very upset 52 year old, who will NEVER BUY ANOTHER JEEP,and I own 2 of them now.

Well a noisy lifter is no big problem... I daily drive a Toyota with a noisy lifter and this car has 260,000 miles on it 60k with the noisy lifter. If you hate the noise try a little heavier oil.

I would never replace an engine just because of that. When I quits is when mine get replaced lol

Knock in 2011 jeep

105000 km 5000 over warranty bought it in 2012. Steinbach dodge took 20 minutes to tell me , needs new engine and Chrysler will help with any warranty, because over warranty at 100000 and didn't have all oil change records. Yes I know I should have.
Called Chrysler they say can not tell it needs new with a tear down. And it I did the number of oil changes I claim were done then pay for tear down which I was going to do, Ashley at Chrysler was super great, anyways,went to steinbach Dodge the service manager, a jerk says no the tech says owners fault feels never had an oil change I know of 9.
When I asked why was problem ,tech never recorded anything.
Put jeep in trailer they said I could drive it I don't want to make things worse.

I am going to pay out of pocket and if.motor is not shoot then I will be. Going after steinbach Dodge as it is they have been nothing but ignorant.
Have yet to tell me what problem is but you need new engine.

sounds like the dodge place is trying to wash hands of the issue. or sell you something you dont need. i know dealers are people and they need to make a living but it seems really tough to find an honest one these days.
unless its a really profound knocking it could be something simple lifter noise is common as mentioned above, wrist pin, exhuast leaks, even just clogged up injectors can make it run rough and noisy. could be a bearing on the alternator thats about to die. with the low miles and no off road abuse i doubt its major internal. if it was major issue like a rod it would be a very unhappy mechanical clattering, and fairly loud. i know this will sound stupid but the best way to explain i know is if it sounds like a sewing machine ticking then its likely no big deal. if its loud enough you wanna make it stop after 30 seconds like nails on a chalk board annoying , then its a bigger problem.

You should post a video of what you are hearing and help us to help you.

It does sound odd to me that you shut it off and come back and it's knocking. My first thought was loss of oil pressure.

Your dealer sounds like a dick. I would take it to a tech you trust and get them to check it out. It may be a simple fix. If it does turn out to need a new motor finding a good used 3.8 shouldn't be a problem.

Hey just to tell all that are helping, this is my first ever time putting something on here and I will tell you, YOU HAVE ALL BEEN GREAT THANKS.
I have loaded it into a trailer as I do not want to make it worse and maybe I can't but I want to be safe. I have taken out of the deale as yes the service manage at steinbach dodge is being a big dick.i have had a number of people tell me ,that know a lot more then me that it sounds like a lifter, some so put in a cleaner.
Here is the funny thing also, when I called Chrysler it took about 10 minutes for the VERY NICE lady to put this jeep into my name, when I bought it paid cash, it was never registered into my name so if there has ever been any recalls I would have never got one.
The service manager says the tech listened to the motor with stethoscope. Needs new motor internal problem says tech would have put the problem on the computer , he checks and says tech never put anything on computer so Chrysler can not see anything.
I know very little about engines but I do know that I have had 8 or more oil changes but did not keep the receipts I now know this is a bad thing . The service manager says it total owner neglect and as far as they are concerned my jeep has NEVER had an oil change, go figure.
The noise is quit load, when it is just idling you can hardly hear it when I step on gas you can hear it loader. still runs I have driven it from parking lot to trailer, still has lots of power, put it into trailer into park and then in trailer I can hardly hear it.

How does it actually run? If it runs good and has a lifter tick you might be able to clean it up with something like Rislone or Marvel oil. Did anyone check the compression? I would start there, and determine where the sound is coming from, top or bottom of the motor.
