LED Headlight Question

I think we all can agree the stock headlights for Wranglers are pathetic at best. That being said I'm looking into getting a set of LED headlights for my 2012 JK. I like the LED headlights from KC HiLites mainly because I can pick up a set of headlights and fog lights for around $800 off Quadratec. I like the JK Speakers except I'm not willing to drop $1,100 on both headlights and fogs. I was wondering if anyone has the KCs and has any feedback or suggestions for other lights.

Quadratec Stealth LEDs for the win! I've had mine for a few months now and they are exceptional and a lot easier on the wallet than the others you mentioned. They have rave reviews in this forum as well.

Pretty sure they have a headlamp/fog lamp kits as well.

In the for what is worth department...I have had both TrukLites and Speaker LED lamps and I prefer the JW SPeaker lamps. The Speaker lamps have a better cutoff line but have still been tough to get adjusted to the point where both high and low beams are effective without glare for oncoming traffic. Even though the low beam light cutoff is well below anyone's window line, oncoming traffic view the lamps as too bright. Adjusting them lower and the low beams have no distance whatsoever. Lamps were aligned originally using the setup methods provided by Speaker yet oncoming traffic was not happy. So, although the visibility is much better than the OEM lamps, I don't like putting glare onto cars coming my direction. This just might be the rub with all LED setups (including most OEM) because the light color is perceived as being brighter as compared to yellow lamps.

I installed KC headlights a couple months ago and have no complaints. Actually I love them. The difference from the stock units is literally night and day and I like the pattern of coverage they give. I did a lot of research and found most people strongly recommend whatever they happen to use, and argue vehemently to justify their decision. Makes choosing one over the other tough. And we all perceive things a little differently, so what looks good to me may suck for you. Good luck with whatever you decide on.

I went with KC for two reasons. One, I couldn't find any serious negative reviews that I felt were verifiable but plenty of positive comments. Two, they offer a 23 year warranty. Nobody else is even close, which tells me KC has a lot of faith in their product. And I got them for $450 on Amazon which I felt was a pretty fair deal. Like I said, no regrets at all.

As far as the fogs, I simply installed Sylvania LED lights in the existing fixtures. I doubt they throw nearly the light the replacement units do, but I don't encounter much fog out here in the desert.

I have the Quadratec Stealth LEDs and matching fogs. They are a major improvement over stock and easy to install. I really appreciate the extra brightness and they look great.

The Quadratecs, in my opinion, are the best bang for your buck LED headlights. I put mine in within the 1st week of owning my JKU.

Hey Ashcan, how well do those Sylvanias match up to the KC's? I have the same headlights and have been wanting the matching fog lights but not sure they will fit aftermarket bumpers. LED bulbs might be cheaper and easier, I just want the light to be similar.

If you are set on the KCs, look at the Peterson 701c. Peterson makes them for KC and you can get them for around $400

Thanks for all the input! I have another question now. My Jeep has daytime running lights (DRL) and after doing some research, I see some LEDs (such as the KCs so I'm also assuming the Petersons as well since they make the lights for KC) do not work with DRL. Does this mean the lights will not work at all or just the DRL function won't work?

I have the Trucklites on my 2013 JK, never really adjusted them...just put them in. It's helps me see but I think it annoys on comming traffic as people flash their brights at me from time to time.

I'm trading in my 2013 on Friday, so it will be someone elses problem. But...I am getting a 2016 and I'll have to figure out what to do.

MOPAR is now selling LED headlights....anyone know who is making them and rebranding them?

They match up fairly well. Here's a quick photo of them along with the KCs lit up in the garage.

Cool, thanks for that. Probably the route I'll go.
