Loss of Computer

Just wanted to document this somewhere for other that may be in the same boat in the future. I could find very little issue with this on any of the forums.

Two weeks ago I was leaving the Rubicon Trail on the Tahoe side. Before going up Cadillac I noticed a check engine light and though it was my EVAP leak again. I got to the staging area and aired up all the tire and put everything back in high gear. When I hit the road I had very little power to accelerate. I figured clogged air filter. Got out and beat the air filter to get dirt out but it was not that dirty. Pulled Scanner and checked codes. There were five code but I only remember three at this point.
P2302 - fault within the ignition coil A secondary circuit
P2308 - fault within the ignition coil C secondary circuit
P2314 - fault within the ignition coil E secondary circuit

A is equivalent to Cylinder 1
C is equivalent to Cylinder 3
E is equivalent to Cylinder 5

So, I found it I put the jeep in low range, 2 wheel drive I could do about 40mph but had very little power to climb hills and it idled really rough. So I got into South Lake Tahoe and bought three coil packs and replaced them all. Problem still existed. Replaced passenger side cam sensor. Problem still existed. Ended up having towed to the dealership. They trouble shot the issue and said it was a bad computer. Replaced the computer for $1500 and problem is fixed. They told me they think that one of the coil packs went bad and took out the computer.

That is ridiculous. Anyone hear of that? I love my jeep but the Chrysler parts that are in it really suck. This is the third time this engine as let me down in 20k miles.

Our 2007 JK with 130,000 trouble free miles went into limp mode last week at a stoplight. Engine code was P1745 which is "Line pressure too high for too long". Had it towed to the dealer. He didn't get that engine code but instead got P0934 which is "Line pressure sensor circuit low". According to the service writer the mechanic checked the pressure in the transmission and it was fine, fluid level was correct (flushed transmission, changed fluid and filter at 126,000 miles) and he found a short in the PCM. The bill was $501.23 for labor and 515.52 for the part for a total of $1016.75. Hard pill to swallow but we had no way of diagnosing or fixing the problem. The new PCM is a Mopar rebuild and has a two year warranty on parts and labor. According to the service writer all replacement PCMs on Jeeps are rebuilt.
