Decided to pick up this horn for a spring break install, http://m.harborfreight.com/automotiv...orn-40134.html Install was plug and play from the factory horn, straightforward, did a test and all before running tube down and everything was sounding good. Got everything tightened up and in its spot and went to give it a shot. Sounded for a half second and then stopped. Kept trying and no sound. For now I'm hornless. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I double/triple checked connections and nothing out of the ordinary. I'd appreciate some input to troubleshoot, I was kinda looking forward to getting it done. Click image for larger version

Did it pop a fuse when it sounded for a half second and then stopped? Check for a pinched wire before replacing the fuse.

I did not hear anything whenever it stopped, it just cut off so I don't think it popped a fuse.

Roadijeff, should I just rewire and make new connection to the horn and see what works or just change the fuse altogether right away

Well, check the fuse that's in there first before getting too involved with it. If it is blown, putting another one in its place is just going to cause the second fuse to blow until you fix the cause of the short.

Thanks for hanging with me RoadiJeff. This is my first time even opening a fuse box. And I'll be honest with you, with the amount of research I did on auto electrical today, I learned a A TON. The fuse did blow, the fuse is a 10A and the horn runs up to 30A. So, instead of messing with the factory stuff, I am just making a harness with a SPST on/off switch for my horns and putting the factory horn back in. Looking back, this thread probably should have never been, but I'm still young and learning. Thank you for mentioning the fuse, my problems should be solved by tomorrow and now I'll have double the horns

On the harbor freight site it shows a relay that should have been included. If you wire the relay coil to the factory horn connector and then use the relay contacts to switch power to the horn blower that might work. The installation manual has instructions: Wiring Diagram Negative Ground.

thank you for the advice, but I just stopped messing with the factory stuff altogether and ran 10 gauge wire to a spst switch with a 30A inline fuse and it is running great. And I still have the factory horn as well.
