Oil Leak

I have a 2007 JK Unlimited.. I smelled oil & found a leak while I was changing my oil this weekend. I took it to my buddies shop & threw it on the lift & this is what I saw.. Any ideas! Is this a common issue?

Was your oil filter on tight enough? I see some oil on the filter. Could be coming from up there.

On my '13 JK, I've been seeing oil seepage coming from what appears to be right side of the timing chain cover plate. Running M1 0w-40 this OCI and after 2.5K miles the seepage appears to has stopped.

The key is to be clear about the source of the oil seepage. It's not always obvious where it's coming from.

I cleaned the oil filter but I honestly think it's blowing on the filter & not actually leaking from it. Everything is secure

Have you checked the oil pan bolts to see if they're tight, I know I've looked under some vehicles at oil and trans pans leaks and a lot of the bolts were almost finger tight. When they go through the heating/cooling cycle and expand at slightly different rates the bolts often loosen off.

Good luck Man! Let us know how it went.

I would also double check PCV valve and system. Some oil leaks can be caused by excessive pressure inside crankcase. Here is the basic idea:
