Possible exhaust leak/rattle noise

I have a '13 JK with 16,800 miles on it right now, been getting a weird engine noise when driving around. I tried searching around for other similar issues to no avail, but if anyone had a similar issue please chime in. I recently PCS'd to Ellsworth from Dyess AFB and the noise started on the move. Was pulling my wife's car the entire way and toward the end began to notice the noise very slightly. My initial reaction was it was nothing, maybe the trailer making noise or something, but after the drive the noise continued with no weight behind the Jeep. I took notice and was able to pinpoint it to the front of the Jeep, probably around the engine is my guess. Its gotten worse over time and I have yet to be able to consistently reproduce it.

It sounds like an engine flutter, maybe an exhaust leak or something. Really hard to describe, but around 1600-2200 rpm when accelerating in 2nd/3rd gear its really noticeable. Its not a metallic sound, more like the sound of an older vehicle's exhaust, but from the engine area. It doesn't do it out of gear (with jeep sitting still), so I can't seem to refine the location much. I also noticed it gets louder when its hotter outside, the days when it was in the teens or lower I didn't even notice it, however it was 50 out today and it was noticeable again.

I took it to the dealer and they told me they've never heard of anything like that on a JK, rode with the tech and he agreed it sounded like exhaust. After 4 hours of working on it, they gave it back to me after a final ride with the tech, the noise had gotten better but not fixed completely. He told me he re-adjusted the exhaust flange (gasket? haven't heard that term used with respect to exhaust, please fill me in) and tightened a loose bolt. Like I said, that made it better, but not fixed. They told me to take it for a while, we had documentation of an attempted fix in case of any severe damage. Its been 3 weeks since that, and it has been getting progressively worse, now it is as audible as it was before I took it in.

My opinion is since its hard to reproduce they are basically trying anything and it didn't work. I plan on taking it back soon, but was hoping to get some intel from anyone who may know more so I can be sure to direct the tech to the right fix, seeing as its impossible to get one who actually knows their way around a JK.

Anybody who knows anything, or had a similar issue; any input would be very greatly appreciated!

I have on '07 and diagnosed mine by listening inside each wheel well. Another thing you could do is suck some seafoam in the vacuum line. After letting it sit and the restarting the engine it will produce a lot of smoke. If you have an exhaust leak, some of the smoke will come out of your manifold.

Also, try a different dealer if that's an option.

A Dealer should be able to find a exhaust leak, with your Wrangler up on a rack. If it is in fact a exhaust leak, which I question. I would take it back to your Dealer, because that is why you have warranty!!!!!

does it sound like the rattle in this video? Sounds like a rattle when accelerating hard, but only when there's a load on the engine, and not just from revving in park????? If that's the sound they replaced the Y pipe, and Muffler and re welded something up near the Y pipe... and still didn't get rid of it.....

Going with an aftermarket muffler seems to have fixed it.

Definitely not that, coming from the front. I'll see if can get it in a video that's audible.
