Re occurring squeaking/grinding noise coming from rear

Hi, for years i have been dealing with this issue that keeps coming back! Dealers have replaced my pads, rotors, heat shield you name it. As you can hear in the video, when i brake it gets louder. This issue gets solved and then will come back aprox. 6 months later without fail. Here is the video;

Thanks so much in advance!

That's SOMETHING scraping on the rotor. I had that exact same sound when the mounting clips on my caliper covers were just barely rubbing on the edges of my rotors.

Of course I'm not suggesting you have caliper covers but it is the exact same sound I heard so I would suggest something on your caliper or even part of the caliper itself is rubbing on the edge of the rotor

Ya I mean, the dealership has already given me like 5+ different causes for this noise that ALWAYS comes back without failure and have made me feel like they do not want to put in the effort of actually fixing this problem, rather than silencing it for 6 months 😞 it seems like they rather make up a problem, get paid for it and so be it

I had the exact same noise and it's what @Bob Sanders is saying.

I finally just got aftermarket pads/rotors from @Quadratec and it brakes better, faster, quieter, more linear, fade-free, etc.
Quiet. It's eerie. It was never this quiet, not when it was brand new.

^^^ It is sad/a shame when the owner of the Jeep has to resort to aftermarket/DIY "fixes" at additional cost out of pocket to FIX problems either inherent in the design or simply out of the range and scope of the dealership expertise or approval domain.

It is one thing for an owner to decide to modify their Jeep it is quite another to have to do so in order to achieve acceptable performance that should be out of the box already present.

Then comes the warranty battles.... Especially In light of recent sales numbers - FCA better start taking a long range view of "things" before the train comes right down the track.... and they have a "SEARS moment".

You ain't kidding, o Seer of things in the future.

That dang-gum squeak was there from about the 3rd month of ownership. I chased my tail for about 120,000 miles.
It started out only being there when I was inching uphill on off-camber roads (every day on my way home when school was in session).
Ultimately it was constant.

I will have to go this route i guess! At this point i don’t care about the money... i want this issue fixed FOR GOOD! Is it the fact that I’m running a budget boost instead of a spring lift?! I just hope this kit will work for me...
Thank you man

Hello dasch,

I am sorry to hear you feel this way. I can't necessarily provide any technical feedback. Although you can continue working with the involved dealer, are you thinking you'd like to work with another dealer? Either way, I can create a case and escalate it to a case specialist who'll work with them toward a solution. Feel welcome to send me a direct message if this is the route you'd like to take.
