Rear Red Tow Hook Turned Pink

Just noticed today that the passenger side red tow hook on my 2015 JKU Hardrock is now red instead of pink. Since it's close to the tailpipe, I assume that had something to do with the color change. Anyone else seen this issue before?

Your post is confusing. Is it Red turned pink or pink turned red. I’m assuming the earlier. Your rig isn’t old enough for this to happen. I have seen this before in paint and in plastics where the pigment breaks down from UV rays and the Red turns pink and sometimes almost black depending on what Red color it started it’s life as. My guess is the paint is prematurely breaking down maybe from the exhaust or possibly the sun. This is an issue I have seen happen but usually it is over 4-5 years of exposure. Take it by a dealer and get their opinion. Maybe you will get lucky and they will take care of it but if not and it were mine I would just paint them black.

If the hook has just turned pink you can get some mopar touch up paint for firecracker red. Sand down the hook, prime, spray the new red and a good clear over that.

It's just faded. Still as strong as before. I wouldn't let it bother me, unless you're feeling funny about it being pink......
If it's not starting to corrode, just leave it be. Who cares what color it is?

That just means your jeep is a girl. Sometimes it takes a while for puberty to hit.

The word "now" in my post was supposed to be "not". So yes, the red tow hook has turned pink. It's the only one of the 4 that has turned pink and it's the only one hit by exhaust fumes, so I am going to assume the exhaust has caused it. I'm just wondering if others have experienced this.

Mine is 2015 HR also and they're red, but different red than the fronts. I guess the fronts have exposed to the sun more than the rears so they look different, but not pink like you mention. Can you show us the pic?

Mine is a 2014, and the tow hooks are still a bright red.

Is it possible you accidentally sprayed some tire cleaner or something on t that could have broke down the paint? Iíve not seen any of those faded.

Maybe it means you go to the mall too often. :-) How many pairs of shoes do you own? At least it's only one hook. Stop by Harbor Freight a few times this week, it'll probably turn red again. Good thing you caught it in time before it turned soft to the touch...

Definitely a trans-Jeep. In the process of changing to a female gender.

The dealership said it wasn't covered since it's outside of the warranty, but agreed that the exhaust fumes are most likely the cause even though they claim to have never seen this before.

Off hand, doesn't anyone know the paint code for the red tow hooks, I forgot to ask the dealership. I'm just going to repaint it myself.
