Reid Racing or Teraflex knuckles?

Had the unfortunate experience of bending a tie rod on the trail today. Ironically, the new Metalcloak tie rod i ordered a few weeks ago came earlier this week. It only seems to make sense to also raise the tie rod to get it out of harms way. My research shows negligible differences between these two options. What are your experiences with either? What is the skinny on either option?

We just launched ours a few weeks ago... but have been testing them on the trails for a while now.
Check with your favorite retailer, they are priced strong and come with the correct bumpstop too. We do suggest upgraded ball joints at this time too.

I normally wouldn't ask for a link, as I think that's a little lazy, but I am having difficulty finding them in the off road elements site.

Exactly. They don't even turn up doing a search.

I contacted them directly. They advised that they are out of stock currently. They contacted Rancho and are drop shipping them to me directly from Rancho.

I really like my Reid's but I'm curious what the major differences are between the Reids, TF & Rancho knuckles.

Hight difference between tie rod heights with the Reids and TF for one.

I can write a chart to compare the Reid, Teraflex, and Rancho features and heights. Are there any other brands of knuckles for Wrangler?

The comparison chart would be great for others on the forum that are ready to invest in aftermarket knuckels.

I've been thinking about the upgrade as I plan a front axle build so I'm working on the chart.

@Jcbrister
I run a set of Teraflex high steer knuckles (Also purchased from Offroad Elements). They look VERY similar to the Rancho set but black. I do not know if they are the same or not but both the Rancho and the Teraflex look like they are RH or LH drive compatible where the Reid are not. I have no doubt that they will all perform well, increase the tie rod height and are 100 times more durable than the factory castings. If you really want the Red I don't think you can go wrong with the Rancho. I don't see where you would be giving up any durability or performance with one over the other.

BTW.... Have you ever heard of a factory casting breaking? I haven't yet but I was wondering if anyone had?

I'm sure they're all good, but I'll keep my Reid's.

I know I would. If you sold one set of high steer knuckles just to buy another set people would start questioning your sanity...

What I was trying to tactfully say is.... I would choose Reid over the others

I know where you were coming from..

I have held them all in my hands. None of them are breaking... I have a Reid 2 piece Superglide Transmission case in my drag car. Without a doubt they make quality parts! The case is a work of art over any factory cast case.

I do like the fact that they have a right and left knuckle but that wasn't worth $200 more to me.

Honestly, I havenít owned a jeep long enough to have heard of a cast breaking lol But i see your point. Iím replacing my stock axles with RCV axles and dynatrac HD ball joints so I wanted to go ahead and do a complete upgrade, along with that Iím finally installing ARB front/rear diffs (since i have the twin compressor under the hood already lol) Iím thinking about getting the artec front axle armor depending on if I can do that with my 3.5 Metal Cloak game changer or not. Iím not sure yet if everything will work without hitting something. Just really seeing what my options are and making an educated decision. I like to do things right the first time lol.

Sounds like a great bunch of upgrades planned. I hope you're not doing all this so you can pull up on the curb at the local mall all the easier....? Haha..

HAHAHAHA NOOOOO! I bought my jeep to be a daily and a rock eater. Iím planning on having it all done before christmas. The only thing I hate is that I cant do the work myself. up to this point Iíve done all the installs. I just donít have the time workin 14 hour days. So I really want a shop to warranty the work, Just in case Lol.... Iíll be installing my metal cloak body armor when I get it though (next year haha.) My FB is Vader Jeep.

I've never heard of a knuckle breaking but they do raise the tie rod up from stock for greater clearance. I've been running my Reids for a few years now without any issues. I personally like the orange color of the Reids but I wouldn't hesitate buying either the TF or Ranchos if I was in the market for knuckles.
