Replace switch on LED light bar relay kit?

I have a 20" LED light bar that's currently wired up with the Raxiom relay kit and switch:

Raxiom LED Wrangler Lighting Switch Kit J100996 (87-16 Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK) - Free Shipping

(This seems to basically be the same light bar relay/switch kit sold on Amazon and eBay by multiple vendors, except sometimes the on/off switch itself is a little bit different type.)

Since I'm about to install a winch and would like an on/off switch in the cabin for that too, I'm thinking it's time to add one of these kits that lets me put multiple rocker switches in a replacement dash panel and wire both things up to it.

My question is ... Has anyone tried cutting the original on/off switch off of one of these relay kits to reuse it with a better quality rocker switch? The wires look incredibly thin so I'm afraid if I cut off the original switch, I'll just destroy the thing.

You may look at the Rigid Harnesses as well. Better quality, price is comparable and it does not have a dedicated switch so if you want to use the one provided or a regular rocker switch you can.

Yep...

That's actually the one I was going to go with to add my new switches.

I was just hoping someone who had the same harness and switch I have might have already done the same thing ... upgrading to one of these panels with rocker switches, and could confirm if it works to just cut the old switch off and re-use the wires that went to it.

I was hoping not to have to buy a whole new harness since the one I've got now is all routed exactly how I want it -- plus it just seems like a waste of money to buy it all over again.

Anyone have any luck with this? I cut the switch off the raxiom harness and wired it up to the rugged ridge two-position rocker. Lights do not work...

Should have been three wires going into the switch.

Power in from battery, power out to relay, and ground (only used for the LED inside the switch housing). If it is like my eBay special light, they were blue, black, and white.

The only wires you need to concern yourself with are power in and power out. I believe mine were blue and white.

Just find the wire that connects to the fuse, and find the wire that connects to terminal 85 on the relay and there you go.

Got it! Blue and white were power. Black was power to the LED light. I do a lot of work in houses and forget the automotive wiring is a little different! The whole "chassis is your ground wire" gets me easily confused. Thanks for the help. Hopefully this will be helpful to someone else!
