I pulled mine off and stripped and painted them black. I used an epoxy spray paint. While they were off I also painted the door where its raised black. I wanted the contrast to my yellow paint. Just be sure to use primer and paint compatible with aluminum on the hinge. Realigning the door was not too bad a touch of trial and error with a second set of hands .

Well I have a black JKU, 2008, and my paint was peeling and flaking off. So I went with the Rugged Ridge replacement hinges. Not cheap, about $50 per door but worth it. Instead of spending a ton of time sanding and painting the old ones, these were an exact replacement. It took a little fudging to get the doors lined up but I'm happy with the product. It also allows me in my free time to sand down the old hinges, and powder coat them so I'll have a new set when the Rugged Ridge hinges wear out.
