RK aluminum tie rod vs backspacing

I feel like I have a unique problem.

I have procomp 17" aluminum wheels with 4.5" backspacing and last weekend I installed the rock krawler pro aluminum tie rod. This thing I amazing! Super beefy. Actually too beefy. The tie rod ends are so big they hit the wheels at full steering lock. Actually I can't even get to full lock. The turn radius feels like I'm driving my old f250 long bed.

I tried the steering stops that came with the tie rod but that didn't help. Now the only thing I can think of is wheel spacers. This is odd considering that rock krawlers website says 4.5" backspacing and 17" wheels should work.

What do you guys think of 4.5" backspacing AND 1.5" wheel spacers?

This seems like it would put too much stress on the knuckles or something with the tires sticking out so far.

I don't want to get rid of the tie rod because it was pricy and other than this problem, it's awesome.

Can't wait to hear what you think

Any smaller tie rod ends that may fit this tie rod? Or worst case if I had to get a new tie rod, any suggestions?
