Serious Question

What is involved with changing my 3" BDS lift with the 4.5" BDS lift? What is involved? Is it difficult?

You do not need a 4.5 lift on a JK. Why are you thinking it? If you even consider it, long arm.

I went from a 2.5 max travel RK to 3.5. Went from just under 3 to just under 4 of lift. What can I say I'm addicted. I do not know the bds setup but assume you have at least adjustable lower CAs. In doing so I had to add the new springs, upper rear CAs (metalcloak) to push the rear Axel back (2door), push rear swaybar back, switch out shocks, and re align it all. Still need to top mount the drag link but it is really cold here in New England now. Hope this helps and yes, I might have forgotten something but these are the basics.

I'm not really sure the question you're asking, but outside of basically removing the old lift and installing the new one, you'll have caster/pinion issues that you'll have to choose between. The wind drag will be more, HP will take a hit. You should do long arms, which weld in and you'll cut off the old brackets. I'm sure there's more, but that's a start.

Another option would be adding a 1.25" body lift to your existing lift. You'd get some more height and avoid the issues of the 4+" lift.
