Soft Top Rattle?

Maybe this has been explored before, but I haven't seen it. I have a 2017 JK with the soft top, and recently developed a rattle in what seems to be the driver's side rear of the vehicle. I tried everything to locate, and finally noted that it stops when the soft top is down, so assume it has something to do with the frame or rear window bar. Interestingly, it only seems to happen when driving slowly on rough roads or rough terrain, but isn't this the type of travel we bought our jeeps for? Not bad , but still annoying.

Anyone else experience this, and any ideas about a fix, maybe some tape or insulation somewhere?

Appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks!

Hi seadweller,

I certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you are not able to find a solution here, I kindly recommend having your Wrangler diagnosed by your local certified Jeep dealer. Please know that our team is available via private message if you are in need of any assistance with that process.

There are springs on either side of the sunrider, just above where the side windows start to zip in that should hook into one of the frame spars.
If the springs aren't hooked I could see one of them making noise.
Other than that check any of the joints in the frame, there aren't many.

There is also a little L bracket that is located just infront of where the top folds when in the sun rider position. I believe it usually has a felt piece on it but mine have fallen off. When there is a gust of wind that goes across my top these brackets will rattle against the frame of the soft top.

Thanks!

Thanks you all.
Those are all great thoughts, and I have checked the sunrider releases and the soft top releases. It seems the vibration/rattle is coming from the rear quarter so I'm still looking.

As always, I appreciate the feedback and will let you all know when and how it is resolved.

It is clearly in the soft top, and since it is a jeep I welcome a little bit of noise, I just like knowing where it comes from to satisfy my jeep OCD!

Could one of the brackets that screw to the rear of the family bar have came loose. The photo is not my found on internet for reference. Hope this helps.

Mine sounded exactly the same. It turned out to be one of the plastic door surrounds. Make sure the knobs are tight that hold them onto the rollbars. That's where my rattle was hiding.
