Squeaking driveline, over rear end.

So this 2008 JKU with 190k miles has started squeaking in the back end under acceleration or deceleration (while braking), but does NOT squeak when just cruising at a constant speed or coasting.

It's happening at the rate that the drive shaft turns.

I happen to have all the carpets and seats (save driver) out of the rig at the moment so it's pretty easy to locate the squeak from inside while driving, it's centered around the rear diff area.

The squeak sounds a lot like wet sneakers on a slick tile floor .. that's the kind of squeak it is, again at the rate of the drive shaft turning .. SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK etc.

Thoughts ?

Thanks !

EDIT : I found this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erlGGs_O3KE Sounds EXACTLY like that, so I guess u joint then ?

Ok so now I'm starting to think this thing doesn't have a u joint back there .. has it just got a CV joint ?

So this isn't going to be a 25 dollar fix ?!?!?

Uhg.

Correct, there is no ujoint in the rear.

The proper replacement would be installing a 1310 double cardan driveshaft, if that is actually the problem.

It could also be the pinion bearing. Give the driveshaft a good tug up and down and see if you can feel any play.

Turned out to be that I lost a bolt on the RR brake caliper. Google search implies it's a pretty common problem on these things.
