Angry Strong Exhaust smell when i turn on my jeep through the vents

2014 3,217 miles JKU-R

Ive noticed yesterday and today as soon as i turn on my jeep that there is an extremely potent exhaust smell coming from my vents. after a few minutes the smell seems to dissipate.

Im going to call the dealership and get it in. Ill make sure to drive with the windows down on the way over.

Is it possible i could have an exhaust leak already?!?!?

Went off roading 2800 miles ago, have something todo with it?

Yes, its possible you could have an exhaust leak on a brand new vehicle. Just like its possible you can have a heater core full of casting sand on a brand new vehicle, etc.

I run my jeep with no carpet, no drain plugs, never get an exhaust smell in it. However, i got transmission fluid on my catalytic converter once, and it filled the cabin with smoke.

I'm curious about this because even if there was an exhaust leak, air isn't pulled from the engine compartment or underneath the Jeep. Its either pulled from outside at cowl or recirculated in the cabin.

I suppose its possible for a hole/leak in the upper firewall to contaminate the cowl air, but I also wonder if something stinky dropped into cowl. You may be able to just flush it out with a hose.

3PedalMINI, did you ever get to the bottom of this?

I ask because my new 2014 JK is doing something similar (exhaust in the cabin), and I'm looking for clues. Thanks!
