I'm new to the forum, first time to post. I have a 2012 Rubicon that I totally love. Last weekend I was playing off-road and went through several deep ruts filled with water. The water came up over the bottom of my doors. The next day my dashboard started going crazy, all the indicators lighting up. Bottom line I was told the Sway bar electrical system was filled with water and shorted out. $2,500 to repair. I can't believe simply driving in some water would do this. Is this unusual, anyone else experience this? Does this indicate a design defect? Most importantly, anything I can do to prevent it from recurring?
Thanks,
Seen it a few times on this forum. Buy some JKS quick disconnects, problem solved. You just will need to manually disconnect them for now on to get the most flex.
Unfortunately Jeep won't deal with the water Ingres issue on their electro-fail swaybar. You can get a manual disconnect knob, run disconnects or replace it with a new one, which is very expensive. You can use an AEV Procal to disable the sway bar system and turn off the dash light.
When the dealer stopped replacing my smart bar motor I put the EVO knob and now I have RE removable sway bar links all so. Been working great for me for years.
