Teraflex Tire Carrier squeeking

So I just installed a Teraflex tire carrier and i am running into 2 issues. The first is when i open the back door it al most feels like the locking mechanism is off. I did use shims to keep the door in place but the door does lock. The second issue is when i close the door there is a little squeaking. Is that normal for a new tire carrier?

What I meant to say is I used shims and the rear door does close it is almost off by like 1mm. I know this could be caused by the heavy tire in the rear.

Shouldn't squeak, I've had two and both were quiet. What is squeaking? Is it the hing or is it where the rubber grommet is rubbing against the tailgate bar that hold the tailgate open? If the door slipped down during install it might be rubbing the rubber a bit. If its the hinge then spray it with some lubricant or contact TF support.

No and no. It sounds like maybe your spacer blocks tailgate to bumper, maybe were not a tight enough fit to keep you door aligned with the door latch striker. Did you torque all of the bolts with loctite?
Do you have the correct tire to hinge crush 1/8" to 3/16"? You may have to start all over and get everything aligned correctly.
The bottom line is, the door should close the same, with no squeak after your install.

I suggest that you watch Teraflex's install video below:
