I have a 2014 3.6L Automatic We have swapped out coil and eliminated that as the issue. Put 6 brand new Bosch injectors and this only temporarily fixed the issue. Now it is misfiring again not even a day later. There is no shaking or rough idling. It seems to be only at start up them seems to disappear. Any ideas what this could be? I haven't driven it since I don't want to cause a bigger issue not knowing why it is doing this. Thanks so much for your help!
If you cycle the key there is no code stored but if use a snap on scanner the code appears three times misfire, misfire and then permanent misfire. We can hear it as well at start up but no rough idle or shake.
You didn't mention checking the spark plugs? Have you removed plug from cylinder 5 to look for any issues with the plug (fouling, broken electrode, etc)
Yes we replaced all spark plugs and actually cylinder 5 plug did not look that bad, a little darker then others but not terrible. Cylinder 5 is on Drivers Side of Motor closest to the fire wall just to confirm right? Saw a few diagrams tonight that showed different.
Per the MOPAR service manual: The cylinders are numbered from front to rear. The right bank is numbered 1, 3, 5 and the left bank is numbered 2, 4, 6. So cylinder 5 is right (passenger) rearmost cylinder.
I have a P0306 on my Jeep and hooked up a OBD2 tool to graph RPM on my iphone. I then sprayed carb/chock cleaner where the head and it intake manifold meet and found that my RPMs varied when I sprayed near #6. I have a new mopar gasket and am getting ready to tackle the job. I had to be underneath the jeep to spray on the underside of the intake manifold. It is a test that only runs about $3.
Un, wrong forum... this was on my TJ... ha ha... I don't think the 3.6 will have the same issue as the 4.0L.
Same problem 2009 jeep wrangler unlimited x, code #5, replaced plugs, plug wires, fuel injectors and coil, runs ok couple of days then starts ruff and engine light comes on same code each time
I had the same problem on my ‘11 JK Unlimited Sport (75k miles). Had the code run at a local autozone. They gave me some dielectric spark plug boot protector ($2). I put it on and the check engine light immediately turned off!
Drivers side 2,4,6, passenger side 1,3,5, both from the radiator to the windshield.
