Traction control light?

I have a 2014 JKUR with a 3" lift. Every once in a while while cruising on the freeway at 70+ mph the traction control light (orange light pic of vehicle with squiggly lines under it) will come on and it disengages the cruise control. It happens on dry pavement, sometimes when I'm just driving along and sometimes when changing lanes. It doesn't happen often but when it does I can't use the cruise control until I shut off the engine and then restart, then the light will go out and cruise will work again. Why does this happen and is it something that needs to be fixed or is it just something that happens once in a while with nothing that I can do to stop it? Is there a way to shut this light off without shutting off the eng?

Is it only the traction control? Do you get the ABS light? I would suggest taking it to a shop with a code reader that will troubleshoot ABS. I had a similar issue and it was a wheel speed sensor and a basic code reader didn’t pick it up.

Is the steering wheel centered? If it is slightly off it can trigger the TC when the computer thinks the Jeep is in a skid. It doesn't take much.

Only the traction control light, no ABS light.

The steering wheel is not perfectly centered. After new ball joints I had an alignment done at Belle Tire and afterwards it was more uncentered than it was before they aligned it. I think I might take it in for another alignment someplace else.

My issue was kind of similar. Traction control indicator randomly would light up after a right turn. My regear finally exposed the bad sensor. Replaced and all good.

Hopefully it's just your steering wheel. Good luck.

I had this happen but my jeep needed an alignment. It does not take much misalignment for it to throw the traction control light. This is, of course, after I replaced all 4 wheel speed sensors.

If the alignment is good and it is just the steering wheel offcenter, it is relatively easy to adjust the draglink to center the wheel.

Yeah its most likely an off center steering wheel. Just adjust it back straight with your drag link and you should be good. Just did mine last weekend because of same issues.
