Transmission @78,000 miles!

I have a unlimited rubicon 4 door. My trans went out the other day just driving down the road. Took off from stoplight and jeep wouldn't move more than 5mph and just reved up. I was able to coast it into a parking lot. I stoped and tried going again and nothing. I shut it off then restarted it. Went a couple feet and then same thing again. No reverse either. I took it a trans shop and the dealer and both say it needs a new trans. It is just amazing to me I need a trans with less than 79000 miles! Aftermarket warranty company is going to get a used transmission for it. Hope it lasts this time. Just sucks I don't know where trans is coming from and how many miles were on it!

Welcome to WF. So that we can give better advice best to fill out your signature. Bummer that first post has to be of a failed trans. Never herd of that kind of failure. Did they say what part failed that caused a total loss with no warning.

No I was not told what caused failure. Dealership was supposed to tear it down yesterday afternoon but we got a call in the afternoon saying it needed a trans and warranty company already approved it. It was super fast so I'm not sure they even tore it down.

Looks like you have a lift and larger tires. What warranty company are you using? At least they didnt use the mods as an excuse to not cover your transmission.

How often did you change the fluid and filter?

For it to stop working just like that, something failed. For them to warranty it with a new trans so fast they have seen it before and know what it is. Let us know if you find out what failed.

Not sure if you noticed, but he is using an extended warranty, third party & the transmission being put in is a used one, not new. Don't mean to be picky, but I thought you would maybe like to know!
