Vibration

Hey Jeepers,

So I have a 2015 JK Sport with 3:21 standard trans. When I bought the jeep it came with the plane Good Year Wrangler P225 75 R16 on steelies. About 2 weeks ago I installed 285 70 R17 Nitto Terra Grappler G2 (D Rating) on a set of Method Roost wheels. Since then at high way speeds (65-75 MPH) The fault seems to be intermittent but more then likely I can feel it 70-80% of the time. Its not violent nor is the vehicle pulling to either side. I feel it in my seat and in the steering wheel. The wheels were balanced however I have not ruled out the possibility that the mechanic may have done a bad job. What are some other possible areas I should look into? Bad shock? Ball joints? I do not feel like there is any "death wobble" but over pot holes on the autobahn it does sometimes sway to the side of bump. Any ideas I should look into??? Thanks in advance!

if you change the wheels and tires and it started its more than likely the wheels and tires, get them re balanced. most will recommend road force balancing.

Go back and ask the tire shop to re-balance your tires properly, hopefully that should be it. if it was fine before the wheel/tire change, and now it's vibrating, 95% of the chances are the tires are not balanced right. Good luck.

I agree more then likely a wheel out of balance. If weights weren't put on good the come off very easy.

I agree with all of you unfortunately. Reason being unfortunate is because the mechanics at this place are annoying and, saying it nicely, are ass holes. So I will try the German mechanics maybe they are better. They believe that if they did work it is impossible for there work to be faulty.

I removed those long ago when I rotated. Good thought though.

Check the air pressure in the tires. When I went to 285/70/17's ride got a little bouncy. Pressure was at 41. Lowered to 30 and much better.

While most aftermarket wheels center up fine being lug centric, it is still inferior to hub centric wheels. Did you get hub rings with your wheels? If not, plan for a set...

I figured I should close out this thread. I took the JK to a "Do it yourself" autoskills center rather then returning to the place where the customer service suck as apparently so does the actual wrenching service. I found out 3 of the 4 tires were off between 10-20 grams.

Found the issue and I can reach 85-90 mph with no vibration!! Now to tackle the harsh ride in the suspension
