Voltage Gauge Need help Please

I have a 97 TJ with the 4.0 Lately my voltage gauge does not work every now and then. It will read 0 and I get a check gauges light. If I start the jeep a couple of times it will read 13 volts and I don't get the check gauges light. The battery is good and shows 12 1/2 volts on a meter. I am assuming my gauge has issues. Any thoughts or ideas as to what might be the problem? If it is a faulty voltage gauge, is that something someone with half a brain can replace? Thank you for any help or advise

Could be as simple as a bad gauge. You might try asking in the TJ / YJ section
