Weird noise on start up??

Have a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. On cold starts it makes a Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzt noise after you turn the key. It goes away when it gets warm. Has anyone remedied this and found out the cause?

I think the first thing I would have checked is the starter.

Is it starter or the ABS / power steering? Mine does that warm or cold.

Battery is coming to the end of its life cycle.
U can go to one of the auto parts stores and have it checked. Low amps won't allow the starter override clutch to disengage immediately.

My guess was starter. It usual does it in the morning. As the day goes on the noise at startup goes away. Because it warms up?? It does happen more during the winter. It could be the battery? It is the original.

Original battery, I'm going with dirtydog that the battery could be affecting the starter instead of possibly the starter having a problem by itself. At this point, I would recommend a new battery anyway. A four year old oem battery is on borrowed time.

Good advice. I was thinking of getting a new one before another brutal Michigan winter.

Always start by looking at your battery and its connections first.
Pull the battery and have a auto parts store load test it!!!!!!!

Definitely replace the battery either way, as Kik has recommended!
Because at 4 years old, it's in a serious decline!!!!!!!
