Winch install wiring questions

Ok, my M8000 showed up today. I need to get longer wires/cable to put the contactor control under the hood. The wiring that came with the winch say "#2 SAE Copper" on them. I am assuming that mean 2 gauge wire not 2/0 is good enough for the M8000? I need 3 wires that are about 36" to reach the winch. What and where are people using getting for this? Also what size stud are best on the ends 3/8" or 5/16". Seems like a lot of confusing info about wire gauge out. Any help is appreciated!

And ordered this connectors, in both sizes...

You think after you have $7 for lugs and then heat shrink and the cable by the foot, is it cheaper just to buy pre-made for like $25-30?

Purchased this switch as well, hopefully every thing goes together ok. Looks like it will handle the load.

Still waiting for my stuff to show up. Guess something in my order was back-ordered. If you can get pics of where you're mounting it be curious of your install.

Where the stock air box was. I finish up my complete stealth install today. Can't tell I have a winch except for Roller Fairlead

Here is my contacter/solenoid location.

I've cut out a spot in the plastic cover(?) up by the battery to mount mine. Figured it be the least likely spot to get drowned in water.

Good spot... I don't intend to do much in water that deep. I just needed it under the hood out of the weather and driving snow and road chemicals. Best case for me is that I never need to use the winch. That is why, except for the fairlead, you can't see my winch at all.

Finished up my install. The only hiccup was that the poles on the switch were 3/8" and the lugs were 5/16". A little drilling and everything is installed and working as I needed.
