wiring fog light rgb halo as drl

quick question, purchased some fog lights with halos for my '17 JKU, ended up getting rgb's just for fun of it, were same price as white or amber. going to get power from fuse tap on an accessory fuse, but the wiring for the lights also needs a ground. Should I just run 2 wires up to fuse box area and hook negative lead to negative battery terminal, or can I wire the negative someplace closer to the lights, ie on the frame, so don't have to run a wire all way to the battery. Leaning towards just hooking to battery.

Frame and/or body provide a good ground as long as clean wire to bare metal contact

Agreed with Digger84 and exactly how I did mine. Power from fuse panel (tied both left and right into a single wire going to the panel) and ground on bumper. I cleaned a bare metal spot, bolted it on, then covered with liquid electrical tape to waterproof it.
