Reason why I'm asking, is I have a guy giving me a tranny for me 4.0, when I start to take off in first gear it wants to jump into neutral.

Yea your just gonna end up swapping trans again later, probably sooner seeing it's a used ax5.

Alright. I'll make it a point to not get that transmission.

Now to the next problem, I am being told by numerous people the synchro is going out, because of the way it keeps wanting to jump out of first gear on take off.

My question is, can I just replace the synchro it's self and be done with it...OR just get an entire ax15 tranny rebuild kit and redo the whole thing?

This is oem 5 SPd on 4.0 TJ

Then it never had a syncro on 1st and syncro on 2thru 5 keep it from grinding from shifting from another gear to 2-5 so popping out of 1st is something else

Yes it is 4.0 oem tranny. Sorry

Any possible idea what it could be? It does seen to grind a little going from 2nd to 3rd. But other then that it's fine. Besides popping out of 1st

bad transmission mount maybe? Could be causing the transmission to bind with the torque of first gear. Check all your mounts (motor, transmission and transfer)

Thanks! I will check that out tomorrow. I want to try to rule out everything, especially before I decide to drop the tranny to be rebuilt.
