2.5l belt change

Good morning y'all

I changed my belt so question is

How do I know when the belt tension is correct?

Should I look for a belt tension gauge torque the tension bolt or just snug up tension bolt until belt is tight??

Sorry for the rookie question

I have one. But I have found that the tension specifications are way tighter than I think the belt needs to be. If fact, the tension on belts with automatic tensioners is often way less that the tension prescribed for manual tensioners. After having the water pump pulley on an XJ fail years ago, I decided against using the FSM-prescribed tension.

ok so just tighten up belt and adjust as needed correct? Thanks for the quick reply!

The method I use....If it squeals on startup, tighten a little more.
