2001 TJ I used to drive Fords

This is the 1st jeep ive ever owned and i dont know alot about them. Ive allways had ford 4X4s so while not tottally ignorant of off road terms when it comes to jeeps im a babe in the woods.
I have a stock 2001 wrangler with a 4 cyl 2.5L engine and a 5 speed manual transmission. Here are a few questions im curious about.

can i put a set of 31/10.50/R15 tires on the stock 15" rims without scrubbing?
(i have a set of these sitting around doing nothing)

at the moment i get around 15-18 MPG, is this normal for the 2.5L engine?

what type gears did jeep commonly use on these models?

I have a soft top on it at the moment that i need to replace, can anyone reccomend a replacement brand (high quality/low price)

Thanks in advance for your time and patience answering these and my future questions. (im betting the patience part gets stretched with us new owners LOL)

Some can(I run them with no rubbing), some can't. You may need to add some washers on the steering stop if you get rub on full lock

Bestop is the factory top, I run a Pavement Ends(cheap) but it has worked for 4 yrs. I will buy a Rampage frameless when it's time

WOW i really like those Rampage frameless tops. As far as material what is supposed to be the most durable? Sailcloth, denim, black diamond or vinyl?

Sailcloth is the thickest, I believe.

What's with a frameless top? Can you lay it down or do you have to remove it completely?

This is a Trektop NX. You cannot "lay" it down like a top with bows, but you have a LOT of options for how to drive with it.

Sunrunner only opened:

top only all windows out with a cage net under it

top and side windows no back window or door windows

but to take it completely down, you have to take it completely down. However, it doesn't take but about 10 minutes for me to now do it or to put it back on. I absolutely love my NX and I've had it 3 years now, but the only downside is storage. However, I still wouldn't trade it for a bowed top.

See my 1st picture above, it's running 31's on no lift at that time.

See my pictures above. That is sailcloth and it's not any louder than the hard top on and going on 3 years usage now with no problems.
