60th Anniversary Tranny?

Any idea what transmission was used in the 2001 year Wrangler on the 60th Anniversary edition? A 5-speed. Friend blew up his t-case on the trail and need to know what kind of parts to get.

Yes, that is correct. It would be the NV-3550.

Damn that's going to be hard to find at a junkyard.

Transfer cases are the same unless it's a rock trac from a rubi. Shouldn't be hard to find.

Alright thanks guys! One more question, what went bad was the back-half of the casing and the input shaft. If I find a Cherokee with an AX-15 (because it being more common), since it has the same input/output spline count, could I use that to replace the broken part? I'm thinking that the transfer case should be pretty much the same, rather the mounts.

You're going to have a tougher time finding a 5-speed Cherokee than you will a 5-speed Wrangler.

Yeah, as well as 4wd. I know there was a couple last time I went. Hopefully they're still. The two major pull-it yards around here are full of XJ's and ZJ's. I'll just hope for the best!

Mine was a Silver 60th., 5sd, 44d. I also have a 89' with an AX15 and a 99' with AX15. Output and input and over all length the same. Not sure what if any gears or case parts work between Ax15 and NV3550. Both trans. Drove about the same!

We went to the junk-yard yesterday and pulled a 231 from an XJ, everything fit up! Just need to get that dastardly chain back on, the driveshafts bolted back up, some ATF in there, and he'll be back on the road! Thanks for the input guys!
