97 TJ 2.5-4.0 Swap need ECM part #

I'm closing in on the finish line in a 2.5 to 4.0 swap and I need to get a part number for the new ECM.

I have a 97 Wrangler TJ w/ manual trans, a/c, 50 state, manufactured 3/96.

The folks selling the ECM want a VIN# but my VIN is naturally for a 2.5. Wont work.

I don't know anybody with a 97 TJ 4.0 to look at theirs.

Somebody here either has one or knows where I can get that part # I bet.

Can anybody direct me to where I need to go?

Alan

Didn't find a part number for an ECM. I did find the VIN codes but I can't modify mine from 2.5 to 4.0 because of the last 6 build data I understand.

Unless I missed it I think I need to find a 97 Wrangler sport w/ manual trans & a/c manufactured close to 3/96 and get the part number off that ECM.

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance.

In both places can go to keep knowledge center on Morris 4x4 and download right now

But there you can pnly look at not download and save the FSM but on jeepslimited.com you can download FSM but unfortunately their 97 FSM is not the FSM for the 97 it is mislabeled but the 98 is close

I did this swap, and my biggest regret, was not buying a salvage/useable wrecked jeep of the same year fit and moving everything over. I went through the ordeal of trying to piece it together myself, its the long way around and expensive. People want big money for jeep parts but will part with a wrecked one reasonable(if it hasn't been picked through). Trust me, I've spent too much time and money doing this. If your 2.5 runs, sell it and buy another or find a organ donor with all the organs and veins!

Looks like it maybe too late.

If I was looking for a donor I woul look to cherokee they are much less valued and the unibody makes rusted or bent ones pretty cheap
