97 TJ 4.0 manual trans tapping sound

I can hear and feel in the shifter a tapping sound as I pull away, and it get faster as I accelerate. It only gets slightly louder though. It seems like its directly beneath the shifter. No problems shifting. It goes right into all gears. Any ideas?

Could be your driveshaft u joints. You can feel driveline vibrations in your shifter.

Exactly my Issue, I get slight vibration as I go over rpm 2k.
Initially I was worried it being a engine lifter issue but as I open the Bonnet I dont hear a thing.

Please keep this thread updated with what troublehsooting steps you follow.
