Exclamation accidental down shifting - and panic - pls help

While driving on a 60/50 km speed zone, just after a right turn turn - I accidently tipped on the tiptronic gear to 4th/3rd , and in a panic mode without realizing lowered the gear further (I may have gone to 1st? ). But then when then when the vehicle was lugging - I switched back to to higher gear.

It's a brand new Jeep Sahara Unlimited 2016. After this nothing ha changed - and, material I have searched indicate the system computer will not allow gear to go lower if not at the right rev. However, I am panicking , and being a new jeep owner I think I am trying to be over careful an micro protect. Please advise on help me....

I have to get out of this mental freeze situation. Please!!!

Don't worry about it - you are correct, the computer will not allow you to over-rev the motor, so you are OK - and if it makes you feel better, I have done the same! I have a son who is 7' and his long legs occasionally bump the handle and downshift - no damage done

Well, it might go to first gear, but the engine RPM would never go above a certain point - I don't know offhand what the RPM limit is but the computer will not let you go to the point where you will cause any damage

RPM limit is 6600 for 1st gear. When it accidently tipped - I must have been in the 1000 to 1500 range. Still trying to get over the CRV and Toyota drving habits - where gas pedal was very softer.

the Jeep is smarter than the operator in that regard. Don't sweat it.

You just blew up your transmission.
Btw you're in the Tj section not the JK.

Panic and over concern was the reason... It's ok to get some support from fellow Jeepers isn't it? :-)

AZ01TJ what then is the answer? Could it be as follows?

"Downshifting accidently is NOT an issue on Auto Tiptronics as the System Computer prevents surges if any. AND, on a Jeep Wrangler 1st gear speed can go up-to 46 mph??? So at 50 kmph this is NOT a worry at all".

Pay no attention to him, he can be counted on to give people crap most of the time. As you have already noticed from his two above posts, he's not one of the most helpful people here.

Thanks for the support Jerry. I am glad that nothing has happened or may be - I worry too much for nothing - and, it has been a learning experience of the Tiptronic System...

I am going to enjoy my Jeep...

This post reminded me of when we were little kids and Pop was driving us in his late 60's Buick Skylark. My older brother was jumpin from back to front seat and he kicked the auto from D to R.

Pop was

But all was OK.
