Mine stays on permanently, but thas prolly because i removed the passenger and driver airbags as well as the cotrol module under the center console. Im just too lazy to pull the light bulb out of the cluster >..< I would have that problem looked into immediately. One thing you dont want is an accidental deployment of either of those bags. IF theres something wrong with the srs system you need to get down to a certified place, dealer whatever and have it checked out.

When i first bought my jeep the airbag light stayed on until I shut off the passenger bag. Ended up being the switch in the console. I agree that you should definitely get that problem looked at.

Thanks, I'm checking that switch in the console. Sounds like a good place to start.

Is there a way to bypass the airbag? My '97 has an airbag and I havn't seen a switch in the console... unless I wasn't looking hard enough.

Don't know about the bypass, but my switch is at the front of the console kinda up under the dash,

If the airbag light is on, the airbags will not deploy.

Did this fix your problem?

My light came on after I had the center console off to do some stereo work. When I put it all back together my airbag light was on and the switch in the console no longer illuminates when I tun it to the off position.

Figured it out.

It was my passenger side airbag switch. Took it to a shop and had them diagnose it. Just replace the part and no more light.

Yeah I know this is kind of old, but seein two things in here that make me think. My airbag light has been on since my last "rough" trail ride... Nothing was set off however. I'm wondering if it could be the switch on mine also, considering I hose out the whole inside when it's really bad... whoops

Anyone know how to test to see if that's it or not?
