Air Selector

My 97 TJ just started doing this and I thought I'd get on here and ask if anyone has had this problem. My air just comes out of the defroster. It doesn't matter what I select...floor/mix whatever. It will still move from cold to hot...just can't change the "air out" location. Thanks in advance

Vacuum leak in the system defrost is the default setting.

Pop you hood....

Look here and make sure they are connected to the intake....

I have somewhat of a similar problem. I just bought my TJ about a week ago and when I got it I found out that the air selector wont even move....it is stuck in the window defrost position. I can change the temp of air just can't change where it comes out. Not sure why that is. anyone have any ideas why that switch is jammed?

If it is not a vacuum issue, it could be broken actuators or the plastic elbows that the actuators are attached to. Two of the plastic elbows on mine are broken. They are just above the gas pedal behind the plastic panel under your steering wheel. If any part of the climate control system breaks, the defrost becomes the default setting (so far as I understand). Here is a pic of my actuators.
