Another Faded Fender Question

I have a 1999 with factory blue/grey metallic paint. I've read the many threads on treating or painting the rubber fenders, but I still have a question: What color were they when new? Dark grey? Flat black?

Ya, some shade of black. Unless it was a sahara model, then they would be the same color as the jeep

I use Krylon Semi-flat black on mine.

Try penetrol instead...You can get it in the paint department at home depot for $9. thats what I used with mine a couple weeks ago. Flares look like new now. I just cleaned my flares with some windex, let them dry and rubbed the penetrol on. Two coats just to be sure. They've held up great and still look the same the day I put them on.
