Unhappy Buying a 05-06 LJ Rubi HELP!!!!!!

So I'm in the search of a new Jeep whether is be a 2012+ JK or a 2005-06 LJ Rubi, I've been reading up on this OPDA stuff and I'm scared straight because my 98 had n OPDA failure which resulted in a $4,000 engine. Simple question that i couldn't find the answer too in the search bar is this: If I buy an 05-06 LJR can I just buy an aftermarket OPDA, install it, and live worry free, or does it have something to do with block and how it fits in. Is there any permanent fixes for it?

Crown makes a redesigned OPDA that eliminates the lubrication problem found in the factory OPDA.

Phildabeast, anyone going out this weekend? I posted in NM forum, lots of views no answers. 2 or 3 of us from Cortez thinking of running Chokecherry but don't know the trails. Only been there once.

The OPDA is a pretty easy fix. Just buy the $110 Crown replacement and install it yourself. Boom, worry free. Also, typically when the OPDA starts to go out there is a clear warning and sound, hence the nickname the Barrel of Laughing Monkeys. So honestly you could still buy and 05-06 LJR and go worry free until the sound pops up. Then order the replacement and make the fix

A 98 has a distributor which does have a tang to drive the oil pump but never heard anyone call a distributor an OPDA

This here.

I have a 2006 LJ Rubi. Got the laughing monkeys at about 85K miles. Bought the Crown OPDA and swapped it out in less than 30 minutes.

You can always just replace it for peace of mind as well.

Don't be afraid of a $110 part.

As an LJ owner myself I say just pull the trigger on an LJ you won't regret it and replace the opda like everyone said and you'll be a happy Jeeper...haha

See the problem I'm running into is that if I get an LJ it IS going to be a rubi, that way I don't have to start ALL the way over, or I could wait a few more months and see what 2016 hold for the Wrangler...
