Check gauges light comes on every shift.

04 TJ 4.0L check gauges light comes on and oil gauge zeros out when I shift. Was happening just while she was cold but it is getting worse. Had my son clean and re-tighten the battery cables. Still doing it. Help?

I would suspect a poor ground or that a wire is shorting on the block as the motor mounts flex.

The Check Gauges light should also set a code even though the MIL is not on.

Open hood look on underside at hinge end there should be a bolt with a ground strap
Follow that hood ground strap to where other end bolts to firewall
From that same firewall bolt another ground strap goes to bolt on back top of engine
Make sure that ground strap from firewall bolt to engine bolt is intact with tight clean connections at both ends

The check gauge light comes one because your oil pressure went to 0. Most likely it's your oil pressure sender but could be actual oil pressure drops but I highly doubt it.
