D30 Aussie Locker Clicking

Howdy Jeepers,

I recently installed an Aussie Locker in the D30 of my junk. This is the first time I have used an auto locker in the front (free, friend sold his Jeep before installing). I have always been a selectable locker dude for the front. That said, the locker clicks loudly and rapidly when making a turn at 3/4 lock. Example: turning in to a parking spot. I am in 2WD and install was correct with no issues. Gap gauged the install and was in tolerances.

Is this normal? Very noisy and obnoxious. If not normal, any suggestions?

I've been kicking around the idea of getting the Aussie locker, and the ratcheting sound it makes is what makes me think twice. Still considering it, but yes, from what I have researched and understand, that is normal.

Some people of this and another forum say the Spartan does not click as bad, but they both make the clicking sound. You need to turn up the volume on the radio. LOL

The clicking is completely normal. Mine only does it whole turning in parking spots or streets. Not even bad. If a tiny little click bugs you then spend the 1k for a selectable. I hardly notice it anymore unless I listen for it. Plus a little clicking is well worth the awesome traction.

I have an Aussie up front & Eaton in the rear.In 2wd it does a little clicking, not bad but 4wd it sounds terrible.I pulled it apart 2x,once to check measurements(dead on) and 2nd time to replace the hardened shaft & spacers, just in case. Its still noisy after a year of service including some pretty hard wheeling.Ive learned to accept the noise & think of it as the locker is talking to me.Or should I say yelling at me lol.

Next time you happen to have the diff cover jack one wheel into the air and spin it, you'll understand what's going on and why it clicks.
