dome light out - bulb, fuse, under dash ok

Wondering if anyone knows something to try for this issue - my dome light is out, but the bulb and under dash lights still work, fuse #3 is ok. I think the light went out when I was working on some interior stuff and the door had been open for quite awhile... maybe a wire got too hot or something? Haven't traced it down yet obviously, just thought someone might read this and know what is going on. 99 TJ Sport

Do the footwell lights (if you have them) work?

Think when he wrote under dash lights work he was referring to foot well lights

Yes foot well lights work, that is what is odd - I would think the whole circuit would be out if the dome light is out.

The dome light is mounted in the speaker bar, no hard top.

You need 12v power & a good ground to get the light to come on.

If the bulb is good you are not getting one of those at the bulb socket.

With the foot well lights on check for 12v & ground. That will tell you which is missing (or both) & you will have a better idea where to look.

Grasping at straws.
Under the cage padding, drivers side, right around the top curve is a connector. Should not have come loose, who knows.

Have you checked for voltage at the light socket?

Haven't had time to troubleshoot yet, and it isn't a mission critical item obviously! Light started working accidentally - I bumped the driver side roll bar and there must be a loose connection in a wire under the padded sleeve material, it fixed it! Thanks to everyone for your tips.
