Door "hinge" broke. Impossible to fix?

Hey guys,

I need some help with my TJ. A while back I swung my door open and the screw or whatever snapped (and is embedded in the hole still) and now there has been no "hinge" to limit its swing. It smacks into the side of my jeep constantly. It's a wonder why no mark has been left. I have pics attached of the area I'm talking about. If I can get it fixed, please let me know how. I don't want to have to get a new door because of this small thing.

I'd drill it out and replace them both with fairly small self tappers

Check a local salvage yard to find a replacement strap bracket, to go on the door. then drill the broken screw hole out using a 3/16" drill bit, which will be just small enough to go in the hole, and not disturb the threads, then use a 3/16" Easy-Out to turn out the broken screw .

First that is not the door hinge that is just a strap retainer

You have to remove the broken screw

Drill down center with a left hand drill bit in a reversible drill and it will come out while you are drilling it

Just make sure you punch a dimple in center to keep drill centered and drill straight

Thanks for the help! I'm looking into the tools I have and what I need to get to get this done.

One question, what size of self tapping screws would be recommended?
