electrical issue?

I have a 98 wrangler with a 4.0L and all of the sudden the speedometer is jumping around and the fuel is cutting out. This happens less after it has warmed up, and there does not seem to be anything else that makes it happen less or more. I took it to a shop and they could not figure it out. Has anyone seen this before?

Check your battery terminals and your grounds. Had the same problem, my terminals looked fine but there was a bunch of corrosion hidden between the connection

Thanks for the info, but it did not fix the problem. According to a buddy who is a mechanic it may be that the ECM is going to die.

PCM not the ECM (93 models and higher refer to it as this). But yes, it sounds like this could be it. Most issues with the gauge cluster are a bad ground or a bad PCM. Hope not, pain in the butt to deal with/replace.

To all that read this, my alternator was the problem. I was unable to detect the issue because it was intermittent. The alternator went out and when i replaced it all issues were gone.
