No clue,

What year is your rig? what kind of transmission do u have?
There are lots of factors to take into play.

Also, i'd go for something thats at least a 350 or bigger
the 6 cylider motors dont have enough power IMO

i want to downgrade from the i6 to a 4 banger..

a 4bt cummings that is

the i6 has plenty of power.. especially new gears and lockers.. itll take you over anything at the badlands.. im more interested in torque than horsepower

If you had a donor I would say not hard at all just have to swap computer harnesses and computers, I don't know about the motor mounts if they have to be addressed or not.

that is what i was getting at too. The wiring i can make work but I do not have a welder for this project and it would have to be done in a weekend which is very possible for me since I can get my way around the truck pretty well.

What year Cherokee engine. I believe that Cherokees & TJ's share the same 4.0 engine, so you would mainly need the the COMP & Wire harness for it.

Depending on yout tranny & t-case you might need an adapter, but check with Advanced Adapters.

It can be done in a weekend. The motor mounts have to be moved up 4inches or so.

I did one in a weekend with a frame swap cause the old frame was in bad shape. Just make sure you take a four day weekend.

4.0 is plenty power. build a stroker if you want even more.

but you should get the lift done first. you love to wheel it now, and nothing is gonna take the place of your lift and tires. 4 bangers wheel really well, little doggy in the sand as you've discovered i'm sure. i say the stage you're in a lift is gonna get you wheelin better, then upgrade the driveline.

you swap in the 6, and go wheeling, you're still wheeling a stock jeep.
