Feeling the vibes

Hi all, it's been awhile since my last post. Jeep is coming along bit by bit after the recent theft/recovery.

latest work was front upper and lower control arms by Core 4x4.. wow they look and feel great by the way. Took care of my DW at 35-40 mph but my axle is still wobbly around 62mph. Taking to the professionals for a closer inspection tomorrow.

Also had a really bad clunking sound when torquing from dead stop to first gear. Research from the forum pointed me to Brown Dog Motor Mounts, also flipping awesome part they make. I installed them last week and it took 95% of the clunk out of the initial take off but still had a bang towards the end of acceleration so I went ahead and changed the trans mount last night. Soo.. clunk is totally gone now so that worked, but I've now noticed a significant amount of engine vibration at idle or when easing into gear. It doesn't seem bad and honestly just feels like my engine is vibrating directly under my seat.. guessing the torque was too tight on my bolts maybe on the engine or trans mounts? That being said, I also noticed the previous owner had installed about 1.5" metal spacers on the skid plate. No rubber in those spacers and not even sure why they were installed in the first place.. Lift is only 2" so there's no reason to lower the trans right?

Any ideas what could be causing the extra vibes.. Girlfriend all of a sudden likes the jeep now but she's burning all my gas in the driveway. let's figure this out asap. lol.

What type of trans mount did you install, any type of poly mount will transmit all sorts of vibrations, especially at idle. The brown dog mounts (or any other mount like them) contribute to the vibration also. First two things I replaced the day after I got the 04' TJ was the poly trans mount and the Brown Dog Looking (different brand, same mount) engine mounts which smoothed out all the idle vibrations.
There is a good reason the factory engine mounts have a nice big gushy rubber mount and for what my TJ is used for the factory mounts are just fine.

Honestly not real sure why such a strong mount like the brown dog is used in a jeep, Hell my 14"' GT500 does not have engine mounts that look as strong as a brown dog mount and it has a crap tone more TQ/HP than a TJ

Brown dog motor mounts were rubber bushing, not the poly's but yea.. the trans mount could be the issue. I got el cheapo from Autozone and I do recall it being more poly looking than rubber. Thinking of tracking down another version to install under the tranny.. something rubber/softer. Any recomendations under 100 bucks?

I used an Autozone mount also, not sure if it was the cheap one or the cheap cheap one, but it took care of the vibes, but I also changed the engine mounts at the same time with Autozone as well.

The brown dog mounts might be rubber, but there is not much rubber there compared to stock.

hmm.. yea i'm gonna have a poke test on the trans mount to see if it was actually poly or rubber. I didnt get the vibes after doing just the motor mounts, only after the trans mount replacement, but it could still be a combination of both and the trans mount was the straw.. If it ends up being the motor mounts, i'm living with it. not doing those thing in the driveway again, that was sketchy! haha.

yea.. that looks softer than what I just put on.. betting I grabbed a poly mount instead of rubber.
