Front Track Bar Ends Finally Wore Out :-D

Well, I did the ZJ tie rod conversion the other day.

Much better!

Two of the old ends were shot and the other two were in pretty bad shape.

Today I was checking up on everything with my torque wrench and correcting my steering wheel. (Yeah, I did not get that one right the first time...) The frame side of the track bar was greasy like the blown out tie rod ends, meaning that the boot is rotted and the grease has come out.

I got the grease gun and went to work.

Three trigger pulls and POP! The boot burst and a bit of grease pushed through. One more squirt just to see, and all that new grease came right out the side of the boot. I removed the gun and started to clean it up. Grease started to come out of the zerk, too.

The passenger side looked dry (like it is not leaking), but there seemed to be a tiny bit of play on both ends.

Just like my tie rod ends, the damned track bar is probably shot.

FINALLY!!! WOO-HOO!!!

I went in to gripe about this to my wife, who has been saying to hold off on a lot of work until the TJ got to a certain point. After my describing what was up, she agreed with me that this was that point. Soooooooo...

I am about to replace my horrible, broken-assed 4" lift with the Curry/Savvy 4" lift with Rancho RS9000 shocks and the Teraflex super short SYE and TW drive shaft.

Goodbye, lousy ride! Farewell, shakes and rattles! So long to the final bits of POS gear installed by the PO on this unfortunate rig! And best of all: GOOD RIDDANCE TO THE DAMNED 2" TRANSFER CASE DROP!!!

Sometimes it is good when old parts finally die on you...

I have that same set up on my TJ, except I went with Bilsteins. You will love it. Don't forget to order track bars for the front and rear.

Well, I spoke too soon. After more research I ended up going with my second choice, which, for some reason just looked like the better choice for me.

I just paid for the Teraflex super short SYE with a Tom Woods DC shaft - yippee!

But I ended up going Metalcloak for the lift.

I got the 3.5" long travel short arm kit with the double-adjustable aluminum arms and OME Nitrochargers.

Either way would have been a good choice. I just decided to give the Duroflex joints a chance. I like new stuff. I really like Johnny Joints and Currie, but the Metalcloak stuff just looked more like what I wanted. Plus I really have wanted OME shocks for some time now. I listed the Ranchos because I could get them added on in a single purchase.

Whatever. I am stoked!
