Hard top harness plug

Hello

So thanks to some help on the forum I purchased my first jeep the other day.

My new wrangler is an 06 renegade (which I believe is a trim line unique to the uk and Australia), it was a factory soft top and now a hard top, so here is the question.

I need a plug and length of harness I guess to connect to the hard top plug for the wiper and heater, itís not present on my harness at the rear corner and I want to know if there available to buy anywhere, even if just the vehicle side plug is available and I will wire up the loom myself.

Also how is it best to connect up the water piper, can I just branch it of the main supply and run a switch from the steering wheel stalk to somewhere on the dash?
Thanks guys

Hard top harness plug

There was a kit you could buy from Mopar. I put mine on a few years ago. It can with all the wording and hoses. It also had the switches and a new washer bottle with a second pump for the rear window. Looks like it has been discontinued, but maybe you would be lucky enough to find an old kit. But just so you know the tops from 1997 to 2002 and 2003-2006 are different and take different plugs.

Hard top harness plug

I think kits are no longer available
The kit includes a relay for defroster two switches and a new washer bottle with a second pump plus wiring and hoses

Hard tops used two different harness plugs
Newer ones without side vents find the plug you need under the power seats from late 90s to 2003 Dodge Durango

Early hard top with side vents find the plug you need under hood at firewall of a dodge neon

Ahhh so no kit then, I guess I would need to find a jeep being broke at a scrap yard and then Take the parts I needed.

Good to know there are two different plugs though guys thanks

The harness integration is kind of complex as timer for defroster is built into cluster the switches are in center console the washer is on left under hood and the relay goes in is in relay box on right under hood

Thanks digger so I will try and get hold of the plug and then probably make my own circuit.
Does the defrost on the rear window need a timer?, i just imagined it would be a low current draw and would stay on when activated, will it burn out if allowed to stay on then?.

Thanks

Yes, they will burn out if on too long. You can get timer relays which have been used mostly if the one in the cluster goes bad but at least one guy reported using one when building his harness.

If you source a factory defrost switch which I think is still available, know that it is a momentary on switch which is to momentarily ground the cluster timer to start the timer which is ideal for a timed circuit but not for a simple on & off circuit.
